A bathroom renovation combines several trades: plumber, tiler, sometimes electrician and decorator. That makes the bathroom quote one where it is easiest to forget something. Here is the list of items it must include.
In short
- Split the quote into stages: strip-out, services, waterproofing, tiling, sanitaryware, finishing.
- List sanitaryware and equipment by model or up to a set price.
- State clearly who buys the materials and what is not included.
- Agree the deposit for equipment and tiles in the quote itself.
1. Strip-out and preparation
- removing the old sanitaryware (WC, basin, bath or shower)
- removing old wall and floor tiles
- chasing for new services
- removing rubble and old materials
2. Water supply and drainage
- new hot and cold water pipes (per metre)
- waste pipes and drainage (per metre and piece)
- concealed cistern frame for a wall-hung WC
- shower drain or linear channel
- pressure test
3. Electrical work (if included)
- socket for the washing machine and dryer
- lighting and extractor fan
- supply for the water heater or towel rail
If another tradesperson does the electrics, write it as "not included".
4. Waterproofing and levelling
- levelling the substrate per m²
- waterproofing the shower and floor per m²
- tape for corners and joints
Never skip this: waterproofing is what the client does not see, and what costs them most if it is missing.
5. Tiling
- floor tiles: material and laying per m²
- wall tiles: material and laying per m²
- adhesive and grout
- edge trims and profiles
- silicone joints
How to calculate the area and waste is explained in our article on pricing tiling work.
6. Sanitaryware and equipment
- WC, basin with vanity unit, shower tray or bath
- taps and shower set
- shower enclosure or glass screen
- water heater
- fitting each item
List equipment by model or write "up to €300, client’s choice". That avoids the client choosing a more expensive set and expecting the same price.
7. Finishing and terms
- fitting accessories (holders, mirror)
- final clean
- completion time and guarantee
- deposit for equipment and tiles, balance on handover
A bathroom quote in 5 minutes
In AdBooks you do not write this quote from scratch every time. Save the items with prices once, and for the next bathroom just change the area and the equipment. The client receives the quote on WhatsApp and signs it on their phone.
