How it's calculated

How to calculate tiles for a bathroom or floor.

  1. 1

    Measure the area

Floor: length × width. Walls: perimeter × height, minus doors and windows. Work out each room separately.

  2. 2

    Add an allowance

About 10 % for straight laying, 12 to 15 % for diagonal, herringbone or large format.

  3. 3

    Round up to full boxes

Tiles are sold by the box, and every box should come from the same batch because of shade differences.

About 10 % for straight laying and 12 to 15 % for diagonal, herringbone or large format.

Usually 4 to 6 kg per m² for standard formats, more for large tiles. The exact consumption is given by the adhesive manufacturer.

In AdBooks you enter the material and laying per m² as items, and change the area in seconds if the measurements change.
