How it's calculated

How to calculate concrete for a slab or foundation.

  1. 1

    Measure the dimensions

Length and width in metres, thickness in centimetres. For strip foundations work out each strip separately.

  2. 2

    Add an allowance

5 % is enough for a flat slab, 8 to 10 % for uneven ground and excavations.

  3. 3

    Ready-mix or site-mixed

For more than 1 m³ ready-mix from the plant pays off. For small amounts mix it yourself to the ratio.
